NOVEMBER 23 2007 - MUJERES POETAS EN EL PAIS DE LAS NUBES AFTERTHOUGHTS

November 7 - 15th, Ciudad de Mexico/ Huajuapan de Leon/ Tlaxiaco/ Chalcatongo

Mixteca: dark skinned people with bright eyes and big open hearts, colourful dresses, colourful houses, strong flavours, spicy sauces (oh, mole, mole!), fresh cheeses, dry brownish reddish landscapes contrasting with bright green trees. Different time perception, different meals time, different types of food.

A kind of tension floating in the air: political problems, gender problems, immigration problems, social/racial problems. A kind of poetry floating in the air too. People open to sharing, people open to the magic of words, people who feel and are able to translate it in writing.

Mujeres poetas - from almost all Latin American countries and Spain: Argentina, Chile, Brasil, Bolivia, Venezuela, Colombia, Costa Rica, Salvador, Republica Dominicana, Puerto Rico and...California. Mexico above all. Strong, energetic, sensitive, ready to speak up, so many of my age between 20 and 70 years old.

An extremely intense week, filling my eyes, my tastebuds, my hearing, most and foremost my hungry soul.
